Two overnight robberies in Chico - one outside the Flyers gas station on Manzanita Avenue and the other at Sycamore Pool at One-Mile in Bidwell Park are being investigated.
Both of these robberies happened within an hour and half of each other and Chico police need your help to find the suspects.
The first robbery happened around 11:30 Thursday night right in front of the Flyer's gas station that sits off Cohasset Road.
Police say a 55-year-old man was walking from his home on Manzanita Avenue and stopped in front of the gas station to rest. That’s when police say two white men approached and asked him to empty out his pockets. He did and the suspects fled.
The other incident happened on the north side of Sycamore Pool around 1 a.m.
A 17-year-old boy and girl were walking with some friends when they were approached by an adult man and woman. Police say the suspects took the girl's purse after an argument and left. Chico police say they are starting to see a jump in robberies around the city.
"There are a lot of factors that go into it but typically in the summer the heat we get a lot of people out at the One Mile and out typically where they wouldn't be spending time. So I think we experience more crime based of that,” said Sergeant Matt Madden.
The names of the victims were not released because of the ongoing investigation.
Another fact police revealed Friday is that they believe the robbery that happened on the Cohasset overpass on Wednesday might have a connection to the Manzanita robbery because they have a lot of similarities.
If you know anything about these crimes you're asked to give Chico police a call.
