CHICO, Calif. -

The Butte County bomb squad detonated a suspicious device outside of the Mission Ranch Apartments in Chico at 4:20 p.m. on Monday.

Chico police officers initially said that the device had the look of a pipe bomb, but after they detonated it, they discovered it was a metal pipe full of marijuana consistent with honey oil production.

Law enforcement is letting residents back into the complex.
