CHICO, Calif. -

It was a busy Halloween night in Chico with 37 arrests, but it was largely non-violent.  Chico Police issued a news release, reporting activity in the South Campus area increased between 10:00 PM and 11:30 PM Thursday, but then subsided. Many people lingered in the Ivy Street corridor until after 2:00 AM.

The bars in the downtown area were filled with people, though several chose to close at 10:00 PM. There were no significant incidents related to bar activity.

One person arrived at Rideout Hospital in Marysville with reported stab wounds that he claimed  he received while in Chico. He was uncooperative with investigating officers and would not provide information as to where the incident occurred.

The 37 arrests were made between 6:00 PM and 4:00 AM, including 26 for drunk in public, and 5 for DUI.  Eighty officers from several agencies will spend the weekend patrolling Chico's streets.  Most of the officers will patrol the Downtown and South Campus neighborhood.

A glass ban remains in effect until 6 AM Sunday.
