CHICO, Calif. -

Police are searching for the suspects involved in allegedly firing off gunshots during a fight in Chico.

Chico Police got several 911 calls around noon Wednesday of people reporting hearing a disturbance of some kind in the 600 block of West First Ave. Callers also reported possible shots fired in the area, and two vehicles leaving the scene headed westbound following the alleged incident.

When officers arrived the involved suspects were gone. Police investigators were able to gather a limited amount of information.

According to reports from witnesses, two black males in a black station wagon were involved in a physical fight inside the vehicle. Witnesses told police the vehicle stopped, and one man inside began yelling at others in the area. They said they saw someone with a tire iron in his hand outside the vehicle.

Witnesses said that is when they heard a noise that sounded like a gunshot.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a Dodge Magnum. That vehicle drove away followed by a tan SUV.

Investigating officers closed that area of West First Avenue for about an hour.

No victims were found at the scene.
