Chico State students move-in for new school year
There's a lot of hustle and bustle near Chico State this week. Freshmen are moving into the dorms at the university. Proud mothers and fathers were there lending their children a helping hand unloading trucks and SUV's with all of life's necessities.
For almost all of these young people, this is their first time away from home. There's a healthy mixture of nervousness and excitement about their new adventure in life.
Business major Taylor Fletcher said she's a little worried about missing her family and adjusting to campus life.
"It's kind of stressful, (there are) a lot of lines," said Fletcher.
Owen Goodwin said he is excited about the transition.
"I have friends that go here," said Goodwin. "And my mom went here. So it seemed like the best."
There are a series of events being held on and around campus as part of Welcome Week.
University President Paul Zingg will deliver his convocation Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Harlan Adams Theater. He will address students, faculty and staff.
Students will participate in a community service day called "Be Chico" on Sunday.
Classes begin on Monday.
