Two Chico women have teamed up this Christmas to make sure pets belonging to the homeless are taken care of.
Annie Cox and Robin Tripp are doing their best to make sure those pets are taken care of.
"They don't have a choice and they don't have a voice," said Cox. "Our goal is to end their suffering.
Tripp and Cox met up in August and started Chico Homeless Animal Outreach offering services to the pets.
"We will literally go out to the park, to the creek and to the places we know where the homeless people congregate," said Tripp. "We will ask them if they want some food or some blankets or a coat for their dogs."
They travel to hot spots where homeless people gather with their pets throughout the city of Chico.
"We stop and talk to them for what we have and ask if their animal needs any care and we'll provide that as well," said Cox.
The women found a group of homeless people in the parking lot of the Martin Luther King Park and gave their dog a blanket and new harness to keep.
They then traveled to east 20th Street and found travelers with a Chihuahua, but they said they didn't need anything.
"Typically they are hesitant, but once they understand we are trying to help the animals they are quite friendly," said Cox.
Both Tripp and Cox said they will be passing out blankets and other items all day Christmas. If you would like to donate you can contact them at either :
