Chico’s Emily Azevedo and her Team USA bobsled teammate finished fourth at Saturday’s women’s bobsled World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
The pair was in position to grab a silver medal, but outstanding runs by competitors left them .10 of a second from earning a medal.
Azevedo competed in the 2010 Olympics in Torino, Italy finishing in 5th place.
Azevedo graduated from U.C. Davis in 2005 with a degree in exercise biology. While attending U.C. Davis, Azevedo held the 100-meter hurdles school record as an athlete on the track and field team.
Azevedo and the national team will compete in the Olympics in Sochi, Russia February 7-23.
