REDDING, Calif. -

The California Highway Patrol is holding a series of classes called "Start Smart" to educate teens and young adults on the dangers of driving.

CHP officer Mark Redding tells KRCR News Channel 7 that motor vehicle collisions nationwide are the leading cause of death for teenage drivers.

Officer Redding and Officer Kurt Heuer hosted the 2-hour class at the CHP Northern Division office on Sonoma street, Thursday night.

The room was packed with some teens, but mostly adults.

If you'd like to attend the next class, contact Mark Redding.
