City of Shasta Lake, Calif. -

The fire that destroyed two homes on Flower Street just after 11 last night in the City of Shasta Lake is under investigation. The Battalion Chief for the Shasta Lake Fire Protection District said they had to call in help from other agencies because the fire was so intense.

Battalion Chief Dennis Beck said the fire started in one of the homes and spread to the other. He told us he is grateful for the help from firefighters and neighbors.

‘Extraordinary effort from homeowners and neighbors helped,” said Beck. “The folks in the house behind us as well as our folks getting in there and just keeping it from spreading.”

Beck said no one was hurt. Investigators are still working on a cause. The total loss for both houses is estimated to be $147,000.
