REDDING, Calif. -

The Casa Lupe Restaurant in Gridley caught fire Friday morning.

CAL FIRE received the alarm at 10:22 a.m. and responded from their station, a half-a-block away, with five engines and one ladder truck.

According to CALFIRE Public Information Officer Mary Anne Aldrich, crews were able to quickly contain the damage to the interior kitchen walls which caused approximately $3,000 dollars in damage.

The building also houses the Casa Lupe Market which was saved.

CAL FIRE estimates their quick attack methods saved $1.5 million in property.

The fire is being investigated but is described as not suspicious by fire officials.
