RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A man is caught allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in Red Bluff, as deputies showed up to witness the crime.

The incident occurred Saturday evening in the Taco Bell parking lot on Main Street.

Tehama County Deputies allegedly witnessed Kevin Havel, 24, pulling his girlfriend into a vehicle while trying to get away from the scene. Deputies said they heard screams coming from the area.

Red Bluff police were called in to investigate. The girlfriend told police that Havel threw something at her during an argument, which hit her in the mouth and knocked her to the ground.

After seeing deputies across the street, Havel allegedly tried to force the victim into the vehicle and get away.

He was arrested on charges of domestic battery, assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, and kidnapping. His bail is set at $230,000.
