Dr. James White was released from the Shasta County Jail on $50,000 bail on Friday.
He cannot prescribe controlled substances and he has seven days to return his prescription pad.
He will have a hearing for his criminal charges on Sept. 12. A representative from the Medical Board of California will be present to determine whether White's medical license should remain suspended throughout the trial process.
White and his physician assistant, Cheri Hougland, were arrested on Wednesday morning at his South St. office. He pleaded not guilty on Thursday to charges of prescribing a controlled substance without a legitimate purpose, prescribing to a known addict and excessive prescribing.
