An out-of-state driver said it was a “misunderstanding” when she led officers on a slow-speed pursuit through Shasta County Thursday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Huiling Guo, 25, was driving more than 85 mph in a rented Honda Civic on Interstate-5 when an officer tried to pull her over. The attempted traffic stop occurred at about 6:35 p.m. near the Wonderland Boulevard exit in Mountain Gate.
After the officer turned on their police lights and sirens Guo slowed to about 55-60 mph. She was heading southbound.
Officers said the pursuit lasted roughly nine miles and about nine minutes. The one patrolling officer eventually got Guo to stop near the Hilltop Drive overpass.
Guo allegedly told officers that she did not know that the flashing lights and sirens meant she was supposed to stop.
Guo was cited for speeding and failing to yield.
Guo’s driver’s license is registered out of Washington.
