Near-historic low water levels at Shasta Lake has created a challenge for people to get their boats out.
According to the U.S. Forest Service and anyone who has seen the lake recently the water levels are lower than normal.
The rangers station decided to close the Sugarloaf boat ramp in Lakehead due to safety precautions.
The Jones Valley and Centimudi boat ramps are the only ramps open for public use.
Forest Service officials said the Jones Valley boat ramp is narrow and long but should accommodate most boats.
Rangers also said anyone planning on visiting the lake for Labor Day weekend must still pay their launch fee.
