Family of boy killed in Lassen Volcanic National Park settles with government
Federal court documents indicate that a settlement is likely for the family of 9-year-old Tommy Botell, the 9-year-old who was killed by a collapsing wall in Lassen Volcanic National Park. Botell was with his sister and parents hiking the Lassen Peak trail when he died.
The family filed a suit that alleged the park was negligent in his death. The case was scheduled to go to trial on September 18 but according to court documents, the family and the U.S. Attorney's Office reached a settlement on Tuesday.
