There were no injuries, but two people have been displaced.
Fire investigators are looking into the cause, but say it does not look suspicious.
Chico State Public Affairs Director Joe Wills said A fire damaged part of a Chico fraternity house early Friday morning.
It was at the Sigma Chi fraternity on 4th St., near the corner of Ivy St. just after 3 in the morning.
The fire started in a duplex behind the main house. Officials say it began outside, then caught the deck on fire. It eventually spread to the building and into the attic. The fire even triggered the sprinkler system inside the neighboring building.
We spoke with fire officials who said the fire was large when they arrived at the scene. There had also been reports that someone was possibly still inside the duplex. However, the fire was knocked down quickly, and no one was found inside.

Chico State Public Affairs Director Joe Wills said Sigma Chi is not a recognized fraternity at Chico State. Last year, they chose to unaffiliate from - in other words, have no relationship with -- the University rather than serve a suspension and fulfill terms of an agreement that could lead to their reinstatement. The fraternity had been suspended last year following an investigation that beer making was taking place in the house.
