REDDING, Calif. -

Fire gutted a home in Redding early Tuesday morning.

The blaze broke out at about 4:30 a.m. on Counter Lane off Quartz Hill Road.  The house is on Redding's northwest side.

The 2,500 square-foot home was 80% engulfed when firefighters arrived.

The home and two vehicles were destroyed.

Four people inside the home made it out safely, one suffering a minor burn injury.

Neighbors reported hearing explosions during the fire. Firefighters say it may have been a small propane tank exploding, or possibly one of the vehicles, but no explosions came from inside the house.

CAL FIRE said damage is estimated at $400,000.  The Red Cross is assisting the fire victims who were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
