Fire sends smoke across Interstate 5 in Tehama County

CORNING, Calif. -

A vegetation fire burned along Interstate 5 in Tehama County Thursday, sending smoke across the freeway.

The fire was reported around 12:15 p.m. at South Street and Interstate 5 in Corning.

It started in the landscaping bark at the freeway interchange near the northbound off-ramp.  The northbound off-ramp was closed as firefighters worked to put out the flames.

No structures were threatened.  Strong gusty winds are blowing in the area.  The cause of the fire is under investigation
