OROVILLE, Calif. -

Fireworks returned to Oroville Dam this year after a 1-year hiatus.

Thousands of people flooded the dam early to get a good seat for the show. It was cancelled last July 4th because of budget problems with the city.

This year, the Oroville Rotary raised $20,000; approximately a quarter of the $80,000 needed for the fireworks display.

"I was pretty excited that it came back this year because I wanted to bring my kids. It's so hot that I decided not to bring them and I want to enjoy by myself," said Pahoua Lor, of Oroville.

The firework show lasted for about 15 minutes. Traditionally, about 8,000 come to the Oroville Dam to look over Lake Oroville to see the fireworks show.
