REDDING, Calif. -

Five people were hurt when a pickup truck crashed head-on into a tree early Monday morning.

According to Redding police, Clinton Roach, 36, of Redding was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Eastside Road just north of Girvan Road, when he crossed over the double yellow lines, into the northbound lane, and then into a tree.

Police said Roach sustained major injuries and was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and pills.

Two passengers - Heavenly Turner, 28, of Redding and Rose Williams, 29, of Redding also suffered major injuries.

A fourth passenger, Michelle Thurman, 37, of Redding, suffered moderate injuries.

A fifth passenger, identified only as "Mike," fled the scene, and was last seen with blood on his head and face.

As of 11:30 a.m. Monday, Roach, Williams, and Turner were listed in critical condition at Mercy Medical Center. Thurman was listed in fair condition.
