Five people were rushed to the hospital on Saturday after a collision near Round Mountain.
The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on Highway 299.
According to the CHP a red, Ford pickup headed westbound drifted off the road and ultimately ended up perpendicular in the middle of the road.
It was t-boned by a silver Dodge pickup headed east.
The jaws of life were used to remove two passengers from the red truck.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a role.
The CHP said the roads were slick but it's unclear if weather was a factor.
Two helicopters that were requested to help transport the victims, however, were not able to fly because of the weather.
