OROVILLE, Calif. -

Former Butte County Sheriff's Deputy Earl Klapperich has been found guilty on all counts of attempting to meet up with a minor for lewd purposes.

Klapperich was arrested in May 2012 of for arranging to meet a minor to engage in lewd acts.

The Sheriff's Office and District Attorney's Office launched an undercover investigation of Klapperich in April 2012 when they received a complaint about his behavior toward two underage girls reported as runaways.

The complaint suggested that Klapperich acted inappropriately toward the two girls, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old.

Investigators posed as the 14-year-old and initiated contact with Klapperich via text message. The conversation became sexual in nature and Klapperich asked the "girl" to send him a nude picture at one point.

The investigators then arranged a meeting at a location in Chico. When Klapperich arrived, he was taken into custody.

Klapperich says that his only intention was to meet the girl and offer her council.

Klapperich was remanded into custody and his sentencing date will be on August 28.
