A Gridley man is dead after crashing the motorcycle he was riding into a pickup truck on Cherokee Road near Highway 70 Friday night.
The CHP said the crash was reported just before 7 p.m. after the unidentified man crashed the stolen motorcycle while rounding a bend in the road.
According to the CHP the man was riding northbound on Cherokee Road at an unsafe speed when he was unable to negotiate a turn and slid the bike under an oncoming pickup.
The man became lodged under the truck and died at the scene.
A helmet was found nearby but it's unknown whether he was wearing it at the time of the crash.
