REDDING, Calif. -

Caltrans workers will begin fixing the Hartnell Avenue over crossing next week.

The bridge was damaged last month when a big rig carrying a car crusher drug its load across the bottom of the overpass.

Work will begin Monday night and will continue from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.. Monday through Friday.

Traffic on I-5 will be reduced to one lane in the southbound direction during those hours. East bound lanes on Hartnell will be opened to two-way traffic.

The estimated $1 million project will include removing damaged concrete and repairing structural steel. The process is expected to take between 30-45 days.
