North and South teams for the annual Chico Breakfast Lions Club George Hibdon Classic High School All-Star Softball Game have been selected.
The games are named in memory of two longtime members and past presidents of the Chico Breakfast Lions Club. Coaches are picked by their peers and players are graduating seniors nominated by their coaches.
North team members chosen by coach Karen Fifield of Shasta High School in Redding from schools located from Red Bluff to the Oregon line are Danielle Chabolla and Alexandra Silva, Shasta; Maryann Parker, Fall River (McArthur); Ashley Long, West Valley (Cottonwood); Courtney Knoch, Modoc (Alturas); Jamie Weatherbee, Central Valley (Shasta City); Sarah Seely, Foothill (Palo Cedro); Blakeley Bryan, Mt. Shasta; Courtney James, Big Valley (Bieber); Laken Cagle, Lassen (Susanville); Jessie Eiler and Jasmine Bigham, Etna; Hannah Knowles, Liberty Christian (Redding); Ivy Patton, Hayfork; Emily LaGroue, Chester; Haley Harris, Red Bluff; and Megan O’Loughlin, University Prep (Redding).
South players picked by Tony Tallerico of Pleasant Valley High School (Chico) from schools situated south of Red Bluff to Winters are Kaylie Hull and Mattea Belmonte, Pleasant Valley; Brittany Jenkins, Ashley Jenkins, and Amanda Nelson, Oroville; Danielle Kelm and Jessie Salsbury. Paradise; Taylor Benzel, Live Oak; Fraine Cox, Gridley; Kristin Cox, Corning; Shayla Sennett, Quincy; Allison Costa, Maxwell; Stephanie Husa and Kayla Killingsworth, Durham, Shawna Hulsey, Lindhurst (Marysville); Maddy Levin, Sutter; and Jade Smith, Chico.
The nine-inning game will be held Saturday, June 1 at 2 p.m. at a Hooker Oak Recreation Area softball field in east Chico. At 6 p.m. the same day in the same recreation area there will be the Lions Bob Busch Classic high school all-star baseball game at 6 p.m. A single admission of $6 will cover both games.
