OROVILLE, Calif. -

An Oroville man was arrested for child abuse after his girlfriend's 8-year-old son was found badly beaten.
Oroville Police arrested 32-year-old David Barber on Friday.

According to a news release, the boy had two severe black eyes; both sides of his buttocks were completely bruised and he had other smaller bruises on his back and chest areas

Barber was the live-in boyfriend of the boy's mother. Police said Barber repeatedly used a belt on the 8-year-old and punched him, including hitting the juvenile in the genital area.

Barber was booked into the Butte County Jail on charges of infliction of corporal punishment on a child resulting in injury, child endangerment, and committing a felony while being out of custody on own recognize due to a pending sentencing of elder abuse.
