RED BLUFF, Calif. -

Red Bluff police arrested a Corning man after he broke into a woman's home and tried to rape her.

The woman was at her home on Oak St. in Red Bluff just after 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.

When police arrived, they found a 28-year-old woman who said a male acquaintance broke into her home, took off her clothes and attempted to rape her.

She told police that she was able to fight him off and he ran away. Officers found the suspect, Mario Garcia, Jr., a 27-year-old from Corning, at his brother's house.

Garcia had wounds consistent with the victim's story and was arrested for attempted rape and burglary.
