Man arrested for alleged machete attack in trailer park

MOUNTAIN GATE, Calif. -

A 26 year-old City of Shasta Lake man was arrested Saturday evening for allegedly attacking a 48 year-old man with a machete.

Deputies said they responded to the report of a physical fight at the Spring Branch Trailer Park in Mountain Gate at 4:53 p.m.

When deputies got to the scene they said they contacted the victim, Daniel Brundage, who was bleeding profusely from an approximately 4-5 inch cut on his left forearm.

The cut was approximately one inch deep with the bone exposed. Brundage was taken to the hospital by ambulance for immediate medical attention.

Deputies said after talking to witnesses, they located the suspect, 26 year-old Shawn Moran, inside his trailer.

Deputies report Moran initially refused to come out of the trailer, but after a brief standoff he complied and was taken into custody.

Initially deputies said Moran told them he used a small kitchen knife to cut Brundage, however witnesses said Moran used a machete.

During a search of the outside of Moran’s trailer, deputies located a machete that matched the description given by witnesses under a washing machine. It was later positively identified as the weapon used to cut Brundage.

Moran was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on assault with a deadly weapon charges.
