The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office charged 63-year-old Patrick Tenerelli on Friday with the attempted homicide of Anthony Helean.
Helean, 34, was found outside a residence in the 11000 block of Woggon Lane suffering from multiple gun-shots wounds on Nov. 14.
The home where Helean was found was later identified as belonging to Tenerelli who was not present when deputies arrived on the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies spotted Tenerelli’s vehicle on Lake Boulevard later that evening and arrested him on charges of a felon in possession of ammunition following a search of his vehicle.
Tenerelli was booked into the Shasta County Jail on that charge but the attempted homicide investigation continued into the afternoon on Nov. 14.
A search warrant was served on Tenerelli’s residence where sheriff’s officials say they found more evidence of his involvement in the shooting.
The following day an additional search was executed on the vehicle Tenerelli was driving at the time of his arrest. According to deputies this search revealed more evidence of his connection to the crime, prompting them to file charges on Tenerelli in connection with the shooting of Helean.
Tenerelli was charged with one count of attempted homicide along with other related charges for illegally possessing firearms as a convicted felon. Tenerielli is currently incarcerated at the Shasta County Jail with a listed bail of $500,000.
