CHICO, Calif. -

A man was stabbed in Chico after refusing to give money to his attacker, forcing him to run to a nearby house to ask for help.

The victim, who was in his 60s, was walking along East 1st Ave. near Verbena when he was stabbed by another man who asked him for money.

The victim told police that he refused, at which point the suspect pulled out a sharp object and stabbed him multiple times in the upper chest.

Chico police said the victim went to a nearby woman's house covered in blood and asked her to call 911, which she did.

He was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is still on the loose.
