REDDING, Calif. -

The man accused of attempting to murder his father with a pair of scissors then cutting off his own hands with a radial saw was in Shasta County court this morning.

27 year-old Jason Dunn's hands were in bandages as he entered the courtroom.

A date for his preliminary hearing was supposed to be set but that was delayed as his public defender said she's still waiting for medical records.

It's a case that's made national news.

Dunn allegedly attacking his father for unknown reasons back in June--then cutting off his own hands.

On Tuesday his father was in court and was given permission to visit his son in jail after a no contact order had been given.

Dunn will be back in court on November 5th.
