Medical marijuana on life support
Pending a judge's ruling on Monday, nine medical marijuana collectives in Redding should close. Some of them already have.
Based on a recent ruling in Riverside, Redding is moving to close collectives within the city limits.
"Trusted Friends" Owner Jess Brewer said he will abide the judge's decision on Monday, adding that he holds no ill will toward Redding's City Council. Still, Brewer said he does not believe collectives are getting a "fair shake" by city government, and he said he hopes patients will be able to grow their own marijuana, or buy it legally elsewhere.
There are still several collectives not covered under Monday's anticipated ruling, but Assistant City Attorney Barry Dewalt said he will work to close all of them as quickly as possible.
