Men accused of robbery, attempted kidnapping from marijuana grow near strip club

CHICO, Calif. -

An attempted marijuana-related robbery near a strip club near Chico was foiled by Butte County deputies.  Two suspects were taken into custody.

KRCR News Channel 7 was on the scene as the pair was apprehended Saturday morning around 11 a.m. along Highway 99 north of Chico in the Centerfolds parking lot.

Deputies said Taravord Thomas, 30, and Jacques Newman, 33, tried to rob from a marijuana grow across the street from the club on Highway 99.

Deputies said a woman called 9-1-1 when her boyfriend was confronted by the men and a shot was fired.

Officers say two loaded pistols were found in the suspects' car.

Thomas and Newman were arrested on charges of robbery, false imprisonment and attempted kidnapping.
