ANDERSON, Calif. -

The numbers are in, and Anderson City Councilwoman Melissa Hunt's overnight stint has paid off for the police department.

It's the 5th year of "Melissa on the Roof" and Hunt supports a different cause every year by climbing the roof of the Shasta Outlet Mall, and spending the night.

This year, Hunt used the event to raise money for Anderson's K9 unit.

Members of the department and members of the community came out Friday and Saturday night to support her as she stayed perched upon the roof of Mary's Pizza Shack for more than 24 hours.

Anderson Police Chief Michael Johnson told us Hunt raised a little more than $10,000.

"The department is very appreciative and overwhelmed with gratitude for the community support, and not just the Anderson community, but the Shasta Community as well," said Johnson. "We are thankful to the allied agencies for their support."
