REDDING, Calif. -

A motorcyclist crashed off of westbound Highway 44 on Friday morning just before the Victor exit.

California Highway Patrol had two lanes shut down for about 10 minutes to mark the highway; those have since reopened.

Officials at the scene said the motorcyclist was riding a dirt bike on the highway and a tow truck driver said he ran into the back of a van. The driver said he could not tell whether the rider was at fault or whether he was cut off.

The cyclist has a lot of moderate injuries, such as cuts and gashes, but he was wearing a helmet.
