Northstate singer competes in show X Factor

A Shasta County singer competing on the reality show X Factor was sent home Thursday night.

Born and raised in Fall River Mills, Jamie Pineda was replaced in the show’s Four Chair Challenge. The 25-year-old says the experience made her stronger.

“This really is it, what we have been working all these months for and so having that thought in your head you can’t explain, it was scary,” said Jamie.

Jamie sang “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt, not knowing it would be her final performance for the show.

“The saddest moments of my entire life but it only lasted 30 minutes to an hour. Just kind of started realizing with all the fans and the comments that they still support you, keep going and after that it was only a step, not the end of the world and I bounced back,” said Jamie.

Jamie is no stranger to the spotlight or the ups and downs of the music industry. She was the main singer for music project Sweetbox from 2007 to 2012, before auditioning for X Factor. Jamie has been singing since she was three years old and sad it’s what she was born to do. Her family has always been there to support her dream.

“For my family, I feel god has blessed me with an amazing family, they are my treasures,” said Jamie.

Her family owns the restaurant La Cocinta in Fall River Mills. When Jamie isn’t on stage she is in the kitchen helping out.

“I  really love the other part too where you are just kicking back without all the glamour,” said Jamie.

Jamie’s grandparents Irene and Phillip Pineda have 23 grandchildren. They said all of their grandchildren have special gifts, and Jamie’s is singing.

“When I see her every time and it’s like seeing her for the first time,” said Phillip.

“She has never had any professional training she just has us,” said Irene.

Proud grandparents who have also played the roles as manager and driver, knowing their granddaughter has the star quality to go all the way to the top.

“She has a lot to give still,” said Phillip.

“I think better things are going to come,” said Irene.

“This isn’t the last of me, I am going to keep trying to make you guys proud for my hometown my family for god,” said Jamie.

Jamie is planning on auditioning again for the X Factor. As for the judges, Jamie said Simon Cowell was actually really polite and personable, despite how he may appear on the show.
