REDDING, Calif. - The high-powered Redding Christian Lions and Los Molinos Bulldogs both secured number two seeds in the opening round of the CIF Northern Section playoffs for 8-man football.
The Lions (6-3) in the North Division host third-seeded Greenville (7-2) from the South Division.
Greenville is actually the only team this year in league play to top Los Molinos (7-2). The Bulldogs host third-seeded Weed (7-2) from the North.
The Bulldogs of Los Molinos feature one of the most explosive offenses in 8-man play, averaging more than 56 points per game this year. Redding Christian averages nearly 33 points a game.
The top-seeded team from the South, Princeton (7-2) hosts Butte Valley (4-5) at 3:00 p.m. Friday. Loyalton (3-6) is at top-seeded Big Valley (9-0). All other games are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
The NSCIF playoffs consist of three rounds for 8-man teams, with the championship game to be played November 17.
Most schools compete in 11-man football, and the regular season for those teams in the NSCIF ends Friday night, with playoff pairings to be released next weekend.
