Update: Fire in Junction City destroys home, injures two

JUNCTION CITY, Calif. - A homeowner and firefighter were injured in a fire that destroyed a home and burned 1.5 acres in Junction City.

Firefighter Dustin Bryant was treated and released at Mercy Medical Center in Redding. The homeowner, Cony Robertson was taken to Trinity Hospital.

The fire was reported at 3:42 p.m. along Red Hill Road.

A small explosion injured both of the victims. One home was destroyed, and two outbuildings damaged.  The fire also burned three cars.

The homeowner had ammunition inside the house and the sound of exploding ammunition could be heard as firefighters worked to put out the blaze.

The vegetation portion of the fire has been contained.   The names of the victims were not immediately released.
