The City of Orland's refurbished pool opens Saturday on its 75th anniversary.
During the winter months, the pool, which is located next to Orland High School on Roosevelt Avenue, was improved. It was made deeper, the outside walls were painted and new equipment was brought in to make it more water efficient.
"We're going to use about a million gallons of water less each each year with this pool," said Orland City Manager Pete Carr. "We're also going to save money on electricity as we have a variable frequency drive motor on the pumps."
The ribbon-cutting starts at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. There will be a 5K run, barbeque and a cannonball contest.
