For the first time in decades Orland held its very own 4th of July Parade. The parade, organized by the nonprofit group ORLAND PRIDE, was geared to coincide with the Orland Historical and Cultural Society's annual "Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration" at Vinsonhaler Park.
"We wanted to help promote the Historical Society's 4th of July Celebration" said organizer Bob Pasero,
"We felt that the best way to do that was to have a traditional old fashioned 4th of July parade."
There was no entry fee for the parade and it was open to any and all who want to participate and wish a happy birthday to America.
The parade started at 11:00 a.m., traveling down Yolo Street to East Street, and turning onto East Street. It ended at the north parking lot of Vinsonhaler Park where food vender booths were set up.
The festivities at the park start at 1:00 p.m. at the "Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration."
The theme for the parade is, "It's a Red White and Blue 4th."
