Oroville hopes business will pour into the city, attracted by the city’s biggest natural resource. South Feather Water and Power Agency said Oroville has the cheapest water rates in the country. They're using that to bring more business to the city.
As the county seat of Butte County Oroville is home to many government offices. City leaders hope to recruit new business with their offer of plentiful and inexpensive water.
South Feather Water and Power CEO Mike Glaze said he hopes this will attract businesses that need lots of water, such as bottlers and breweries.
”It's our intention to make Oroville California's business oasis,” said Glaze. “We intend to market the Oroville area on businesses wishing to expand or relocate.”
Glaze tells KRCR News Channel 7 he's courting a lumbering company in Ireland that is attracted to the business environment created by the City of Oroville.
