CHICO, Calif. -

Mom couldn't keep the secret. Gayle Olsen, a special-ed teacher at Pleasant Valley High School, wore her son's college choice on her chest.  Chad Olsen, P.V.'s star senior, signed a letter of intent to play football at Fresno State.

While at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, Olsen played linebacker and tight end.  Fresno State likes him on offense and plans to utilize him as a ball-catching tight end, meaning we could hear his name quite a bit.

"Part of the fun to being a tight end is to get down and dirty with the linemen, but also to score touchdowns," said Olsen.

Olsen's mother says her son is in good hands with the staff at Fresno State.

"We were fortunate to go on a nice official visit a few weeks ago," said Gayle Olsen.  "They're truly family."

"I was also getting recruited by bigger schools like Washington and San Jose State," said Olsen. "But the family atmosphere at Fresno was the deal-maker."
