Redding Police have arrested a man accused of stabbing another man in a fight that may have been over a woman.
The incident happened Wednesday at 11:55 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at 2520 Reservoir Lane.
They found Kristopher Knuth, 39, with several stab wounds about his neck and upper back.
Knuth and other witnesses at the location told officers that Matthew Mark Macias, 22 of Anderson, forced entry into the residence and stabbed Knuth as he was retreating through the house.
Macias was arrested this morning at a home on Reservoir Avenue.
Police say Macias admitted stabbing Knuth and even told them where he hid the knife.
Witnesses said Macias may have been attempting to attack another resident of the household due to jealousy over a woman.
Knuth is in the hospital listed as stable condition. His wounds are not considered to be life threatening.
Police say Macias is on California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Parole status for assault With a deadly weapon. He was convicted of stabbing another Redding resident in 2011.
