SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. -

A Shasta County youth home was damaged by fire early Friday.  Investigators say it could be a case of arson, possibly started by teens who were staying there.

The fire was reported just after midnight.

According to a news release from Redding Fire Department, there were 8 people staying at the youth group home on Cowgill Lane.  It's located off Lake Boulevard, north of Redding in the Buckeye area.

About 25% of the building was on fire, with damage estimated at $105,000.

The home is a Victor Treatment Center, a group that provides residential-based services to youth.

Management told fire officials that three juveniles started the fire in an activity room and ran away.  It took firefighters about 20-minutes to contain the flames.

Redding Police contacted the kids who may have started the fire, they were located a short distance away.

The cause remains under investigation.
