Officials from Shasta County Public Health say that lab staff and experts have determined that the suspected case of meningococcal meningitis being investigated in the county was not a meningococcal disease of any kind.
They said they hope to have the lab results back by Tuesday but they are still trying to figure out what the disease is.
While Shasta County Public health cannot confirm identifying information, the case they are referring to is that of Misty Kiser, a seventh grade student at Shasta Lake School who died yesterday.
Shasta Lake School held a forum with Shasta County Public Health in the school's gym Friday night.
At the forum, parents were handed fliers with information about preventing, recognizing and treating infections.
