REDDING, Calif. -

Redding police spent part of Saturday afternoon investigating a suspicious device on Masonic Avenue near Lake Boulevard.

A passerby flagged down an officer after spotting something that had multiple cylinders, wires, and a small metal box attached.

Police taped off the area and called in a member of the bomb squad to examine the device.

It turned out to be a stripped-down commercial-grade doorbell, according to officers at the scene.
