Redding stabbing suspect located
A 29-year-old Redding man was stabbed on Monday after allegedly arguing with the suspect about his driving.
The man was taken to Mercy Medical Center and at around 4:30, the hospital staff let Redding Police know that they were treating a stabbing victim.
The victim, Ronnie Towers, told officers that he got into a fight with an unknown suspect over the suspect's reckless driving on the 2200-block of Jewel Lane. Towers said the suspect got out of his car and stabbed him in the abdomen.
On Thursday, investigators following up on the case contacted a witness to the stabbing who identified the suspect as Michael Jay Rozell, 41, of Redding.
Officers found Rozell driving his Ford Expedition northbound on S. Market St. and stopped him near the intersection of S. Market and Fell Streets. Rozell was detained and brought to the Investigations Division where he confessed to stabbing Towers once.
The knife used in the stabbing was located inside of Rozell's car and Rozell was booked into Shasta County Jail charged with assault with a deadly weapon and committing a felony while out on bail.
