REDDING, Calif. -

The Subway restaurant on Eureka Way in Redding was robbed just before 12 p.m. on Sunday by a man on AB 109 release.

Officers were later able to find the suspect, Daniel Torrez, 53, a transient, who had allegedly used a large knife to rob them of cash from the register.

When officers approached Torrez, he fled on foot and was quickly captured by a K-9 officer. Torrez had a large knife and an undisclosed amount of money.

Two Subway employees told officers that he was the one who took the money.

Torrez was arrested for robbery, displaying a weapon in a threatening manner and resisting arrest.

Police later released that Torrez is currently on Post Release Community Supervision (AB 109) for burglary at which point a probation violation was added to his charges.
