Redding Woman Allegedly Attacks Sav-Mor Employee

REDDING, Calif. -

A Redding woman was arrested Friday afternoon after she allegedly assaulted a Sav-Mor employee while she attempted to steal merchandise from the store.

Redding Police said Samantha Kay Morales, 24, was inside Sav-Mor when an employee approached her about the stolen items, then Morales attacked the employee.

Morales took off on foot southbound on Westside Road with the stolen goods before police later caught up with her.

As officers tried to detain Morales, she attacked a State of California Department of Corrections Officer, which forced the officer to use a baton to apprehend her.

Officer Paul Sprauge sustained minor injuries to his neck due to being scratched. Morales was later booked at the Shasta County Jail where she was booked for robbery, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, battery, and burglary. Her bail is set at $50,000.
