Two residents were injured as they fought back against a pair of armed men who entered their apartment wearing stockings over their faces in an attempted robbery.
Not long after, police arrested 24-year-old Johnny Gutierrez on suspicion of home invasion robbery.
The incident happened about 2:40 Saturday morning at an apartment complex on the 800 block of West First Avenue.
Residents tell KRCR the men knocked on their door wearing stockings over their faces and that one of the men was holding a shotgun.
The suspects told the residents to get on the ground and were preparing to tie them up when the six residents fought back.
Two male residents were struck with the butt of the shotgun before the would-be robbers ran away but not before firing a shot in the air.
The injured refused medical treatment.
Gutierrez was located a few blocks away and taken into custody.
The second suspect got away.
However on Saturday afternoon Chico Police said the second suspect, Timothy Johnson, 23, turned himself in.
Johnson was booked into the Butte County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, first degree robbery and personal use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
